What's Not Included

Day 1
Folkestone - St. Quentin

Leave Folkestone this morning via Eurotunnel to arrive at your hotel in St Quentin. Explore the city's magnificent Basilica and renowned fine arts museum, failing which there will be more opportunities during the week as we stay in the same centrally-situated hotel throughout.

Day 2

Today you will rejoin the coach for the short journey to the small town of Chauny where your cruise begins. Chauny marks the end of the Canal Lateral de L'Oise and the start of the Canal de St Quentin, which continues to track the River Oise upstream as far as the old railway town of Tergnier. For your first day of cruising you will journey as far as the town of Jussy.

Day 3

Today, return to Jussy and continue to follow the canal past its junction with the Canal de la Somme at St. Simon. You will then continue onwards along a wining course through to St. Quentin.

Day 4
St. Quentin - Honnecourt-sur-Escaut

You will resume your cruise today in St. Quentin, before reaching the canal's summit pound. Conclude for the day, after traversing through the Riqueval Tunnel, in the village of Honnecourt-sur-Escaut.

Day 5
Honnecourt - Masnières

Rejoin Natalia at Honnecourt this morning, to sail the River Escaut down to the village of Masnières.

Depending on their season's opening date, it should be possible for anyone interested to break out of the cruise today to visit the historic Cistercian Abbey of Vaucelles, which is very close to the canal.

Day 6

Today, your final day of cruising takes you into the fine city of Cambrai. You will re-board in Mesnières as the canal continues its descent, before arriving into Cambrai in the early afternoon. Here you will have time to see the city's cathedral, St-Géry Church, Fine Arts Museum and ancient city walls.

Day 7
Cambrai - UK

Return to Kent today on a late afternoon return crossing.
