Seattle, USA, Washington

Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest and has been nicknamed the ‘Emerald City’, due to its abundance of evergreen trees and the surrounding Cascade Mountains and Olympic Mountains. While the mountains dominate either side of the city, the centre is dominated by the iconic space needle and a ride to the top will reward you with a fantastic view. Being home to Silicon Valley, it is also an important technology centre, with many renowned firms situated in the city.

Known for its museum of glass, Tacoma is situated along the banks of Puget Sound and contains some breathtaking views

San Juan Islands, USA, Washington

The San Juan Islands are scattered throughout the waters of Puget Sound in Washington State. While cruising between these 700 forested islands, keep an eye open for orca whales and bald eagles, which commonly make an appearance. 176 of the islands are large enough to have been named and many tourists visit for a taste of the fresh air, scenery and rural life.

Located on Fidalgo Island in Washington State is the city of Anacortes, which provides an ideal point of access from which to travel to the San Juan Islands. This city offers a sophisticated atmosphere, with many elegant restaurants, casual cafes, art galleries and antique shops.

Friday Harbor, USA, Washington

Friday Harbor is the most significant city on the San Juan Island. The laid back atmosphere of the city soon becomes apparent as you wander the streets, which are surprisingly developed considered the remote location of the island. Friday Harbor is also home to a famous marine research institution, where you will have a good chance of seeing island spotted deer, raccoons, tree frogs, banana slugs, and much more.

Port Angeles is the largest city in the Washington region and is best known for providing a point of access to the Olympic Peninsula and the Olympic National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is made up of a stunning range of flora and fauna, with many rainforest valleys. Here, you can also admire other stunning natural wonders such as Hurricane Ridge and Lake Crescent.

Located in the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state is the city of Port Townsend. This city is home to the Fort Worden State Park, which is made up of a plethora of beaches, trails, and abandoned military bunkers. It is also home to Manresa Castle, which was completed in 1892 for Charles and Kate Eisenbeis and is now used as a hotel and convention centre.
