Day 1
Nuremberg, Germany

Located on the Pegnitz River is the second largest city of Bavaria and incredibly energetic city of Nuremberg. Emerging from the uplands of Franconia, Nuremberg is also close to the Main-Danube Canal. With official records dating back to 1050 this incredible city has a very long history, unfortunately only a handful of historic buildings survived the damage of WW2. The most significant remaining building is the Church of St. Sebald, a breathtaking example of gothic and renaissance master craft.  As well as museums, a Renaissance city hall, and customs house, there is an imperial castle towering above them all.

Day 3
Regensburg, Germany

Situated along the banks of the Danube River is the Bavarian city of Regensburg. A cultural centre of Germany, the cities medieval heart is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasting one of the most important Gothic churches in Bavaria, St. Peter’s Cathedral. With a stunning 14th century stained glass window and two Romanesque chapels, St. Peter’s in one of the main attractions in Regensburg. Full of history, the city also offers other notable examples of Romanesque architecture, including the Porta Praetoria, which dates back to 179 AD. Despite the repeated bombings of WW2, Regensburg’s medieval buildings and charm has survived, and sustained little damage.

Day 4
Passau, Germany

Resting at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers in Bavaria is the town of Passau. Lying on the border of Austria, Passau offers a unique and eclectic blend of German and Austria Baroque architecture. St Stephen’s Cathedral is the main focus for tourism in Passau and is a true masterpiece of Italian Baroque. The main attractions of the cathedral include a treasury, museum, Italian painted frescoes and the biggest European church organ, boasting 17,774 pipes.

Linz, Austria

The Austrian city of Linz sits on the banks of the Danube River, 100 miles west of Vienna. It is home to a number of historic buildings and landmarks including: the old castle; St. Martin’s Church; the Baroque Town Hall; the 13th century main square, which features a monument to the Holy Trinity; and the 17th century cathedral. More recently, Linz has developed into an important cultural centre, with a number of schools of art music; several museums; art galleries; libraries; opera houses; and theatres. Additionally, Linz provides a point of access from which to visit the city of Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart.

Vienna, Austria

The charming Austrian capital is situated on the River Danube and is a world-renowned centre for classical music, art, theatre and history. Home of the waltz, the Spanish Riding School, Sachertorte and Vienna Boys’ Choir, its central core is easily manageable by foot but excellent public transport is also available. The Schönbrunn Palace is the summer residence of Maria Theresia and the Hapsburgs and is one of the most iconic buildings in this great city.

Before 1806, Vienna was the seat of the Holy Roman Empire and later it became the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and, in 1918, the capital of independent Austria which emerged from World War I as a republic. During WWII, Vienna was divided into five zones, but the 1955 State Treaty helped the country regain its independence and Vienna was once again the capital of a sovereign Austria.

Melk, Austria

Situated in northeast Austria is the city of Melk – regarded as a gateway to the famous Wachau wine region. It is located at a meeting point of the Danube and Melk rivers and is home to a towering, yellow, baroque Abbey, which sits high above the Danube River. Inside the Abbey, you will find many interesting features including the Melk Cross, Abbey Library, Marble Room, and Collegiate Church. Elsewhere in the city, you will find a number of pretty Renaissance houses and the Schallaburg Castle.

Vienna, Austria

Budapest, Hungary

The River Danube plays a vital role in the build-up of the Hungarian capital of Budapest. It flows right through the heart of the city and has led to the construction of seven magnificent bridges - which connect the old city of Buda, on the right bank, with more modern city of Pest, on the left bank. One of the city’s instantly recognisable highlights is the Hungarian parliament building – a spectacular structure which sits beside the Danube. Venture into Budapest, wander its many streets, and you will discover St. Matthias Church, which was originally built in Romanesque style in the 11th century, but later rebuilt in Gothic style, in the 14th century.

Junior Suite (CAT A+)

Category A+ stateroom is a very comfortable area of 225 Square feet and boasts a French Balcony, floor to ceiling window, living area, an ensuite bathroom with bathtub and shower, complimentary toiletries, Flat screen television with local and satellite channels, direct dial telephone, complimentary bottled water replenished daily, fully stocked mini-bar, in room safe, internet access and a spacious wardrobe.

CAT A, B & C Staterooms

Category A, B and C Staterooms are 170 square feet, and offer a French balcony, a seating area, an ensuite bathroom with bathtub and toiletries, hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers. A small desk and vanity area, spacious wardrobe, flat screen television and internet access are also provided.

CAT D & E Staterooms

Both Cat D & E Staterooms come in at a very comfortable 170 square feet, and offer two fixed windows placed higher up in the stateroom thanks to their location near the waterline. Guests will find an ensuite shower room with toiletries, hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers. A small desk and vanity area, spacious wardrobe, flat screen television and internet access are also provided.

Single Suite

The Single suites comes in at a very comfortable 140 square feet, and offers a French balcony, ensuite shower room with toiletries, hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers. A small desk and vanity area, spacious wardrobe, flat screen television and internet access are also provided for guests.

Aft Lounge

The Aft Lounge is a wonderful oasis tucked away at the back of the ship. Bar service is available by simply picking up the telephone, and the views from this aft vantage point are unparalleled. The Aft Lounge also sports a whole host of board games, books and other diversions.

Sun Deck

The uppermost deck is the Sun Deck. The perfect vantage point for viewing some of the remarkable scenery you’ll be passing, the Sun Deck has a wide array of chairs and seating options, including a hot tub located just aft of the Navigation Bridge.

While taking in the passing views of the riverside enjoy a stroll along the walking track or why not challenge fellow passengers to a game of chess.

Main Lounge & Bar

The Main Lounge is your go-to place for nightly entertainment, great drinks and light lunches. The Main Lounge offers a bow seating area with commanding views of the waterway ahead and even features a dance floor to dance the night away along with the Bar in AmaLyra's Main Lounge is your source for a variety of drinks.

Round-the-clock coffee, tea and water are always available here, and an Early-and-Late-Riser’s breakfast can be had in the morning. A “Light Lunch” is served in the Lounge and consists of soup, sandwiches, salads and a selection of cold meats and cheeses.

Library

A well stocked Library featuring books on a wide variety of subjects. Copies of the daily news are also available here.

Disabled Facilities

Any disability requiring special attention must be reported to AmaWaterways at the time of booking. AmaWaterways will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the special needs of disabled cruise participants but is not responsible for any denial of services by carriers, hotels, restaurants, or other independent suppliers. Tour buses are not equipped with wheelchair ramps and cabin doors are not wide enough to allow access by standard wheelchairs. Wheelchairs and walkers cannot be carried on tour buses, due to space limitations. Wheelchair passengers should be aware of these limitations. For safety reasons, passengers in wheelchairs cannot be carried on ramps in ports where the ship is at anchor. We regret that we cannot provide individual assistance to a tour member for walking, getting on/off tour busses and other transportation vehicles, or other personal needs. A qualified travel companion must accompany travellers who need assistance.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is only allowed on the sun deck of all ships. 

Dietary Requirements

Please advise the AmaWaterways reservation agent at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements you may have and we will make every effort to accommodate your request. Please note that not all diets are possible.

Dress Code

They recommend country club casual for dinner. Guests typically wear dressier attire for the Captain’s Dinner.
