Day 1
Prek Kdam, Cambodia - Kampong Chhanaan, Cambodia

Today you will board your river cruise ship at Prek Kdam, a small village on the Tonle River. Meet your fellow travellers at a Welcome Dinner as the ship cruises to Kampong Chhnang. (D)

Day 2
Kampong Chhanaan, Cambodia

After breakfast, a local boat will take you into the lakeside wetlands that form the mouth of the Tonle Sap River. Enjoy the stunning variety of bird life here, and be on the lookout for the traps used to catch fish in this area – some are over a half-mile long! In the afternoon, take a leisurely walk to the Koh Chen village. You will also visit home workshops specialising in silversmithing and copper-smithing. (B,L,D)

Day 3
Oudong, Cambodia - Kampong Tralach, Cambodia - Phnom Penh, Cambodia

This morning you will be transferred to Oudong, the former capital of Cambodia, and tour a monastery where you will receive a special Buddhist blessing. In Kampong Tralach, you will have a truly memorable excursion – an oxcart ride through the rice paddies surrounding a small village. Later, your ship will depart for Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, where an afternoon orientation tour will give you a wonderful introduction to the city. Your tour includes a stop at Wat Phnom. Return to the ship for dinner and an onboard Khmer folk performance presented by local children. The vessel moors overnight in Phnom Penh. (B,L,D)

Day 4
Phnom Penh, Cambodia

This morning you will take an excursion to Cambodia’s infamous Killing Fields and also visit the Khmer Rouge’s grim Tuol Sleng S21 detention center (Genocide Museum) just outside the city. After lunch on board, your afternoon tour explores the highlights of the city, famous for its French colonial architecture, busy cafés and colorful nightlife. Visit the Royal Palace, the spectacular Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, which has an outstanding collection of Khmer crafts. An overnight on the waterfront provides an opportunity to dine on your own in one of many nearby restaurants, if you so choose. (B,L,D)

Day 5
Phnom Penh, Cambodia - Tan Chau, Vietnam

Spend the day cruising the Mekong River and crossing the border into Vietnam. Your vessel moors midstream at the small town of Tan Chau, Vietnam. (B,L,D)

Day 6
Tan Chau, Vietnam - Sa Dec, Vietnam

This morning, you’ll visit Tan Chau, a small Mekong River town unspoiled by tourism. You will have the opportunity to take one of two tours this morning. Your first option to is take a traditional “xe-loi” (trishaw) ride around the town, with stops at a silk-making workshop and another that produces rattan mats and slippers. Alternatively, you will take a boat ride through the narrow channels of the Mekong River to several scenic locations, including a small village known as “Evergreen Island.” Return to Tan Chau, where you will visit workshops that make silk and rattan mats in the village. This afternoon, your ship cruises to Sa Dec, where it will moor overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 7
Sa Dec, Vietnam - Cai Be, Vietnam - Xeo Quyt, Vietnam

In the morning, board a local boat for Sa Dec. Once ashore, you will tour the town where French writer Marguerite Duras spent many years in her youth. Visit a colorful local market, and the house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, Duras' Chinese paramour. Afterwards, board a motor coach for Xeo Quyt, once used as a base during the French and U.S. wars and now an important ecological site. After lunch on board, a local boat will take you to Cai Be’s spectacular floating market. You will also have an opportunity to visit candy and rice paper workshops. This evening, enjoy a festive Farewell Dinner on board. (B,L,D)

Day 8
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Following the fall of Saigon, the Vietnamese former capital was renamed Ho Chi Minh City in 1975. There are many landmarks and museums in the city which provide insight into the history of Vietnam including the Reunification Palace, which features a replica of the tank which ended conflict in 1975. Today, however, Ho Chi Minh City is a bustling metropolis, home to an array of landmarks and a vibrant culture. There are many authentic goods including striking silk-woven products to purchase, and several street markets selling delicious and authentic cuisine.

Onboard special highlights include folklore dances and music performances, culture discussion forums, theme dinners and piano entertainment.

Saigon Lounge & Bar

The Saigon Lounge located on the Upper Deck is the place to be. With its own bar, grand piano, dance floor, its serves guests complimentary drinks consisting of local beers, wines, spirit and extra-cost premium brand liquors. Entertainment here is provided mostly by local artists performances, including traditional music and folklore dances. 

Gift Shop

The Gift Shop, located on the Upper Deck offers guests the chance to purchase mostly Cambodian-Vietnamese handmade souvenirs, fashion accessories, and special occasion gifts.

Public Computers & Library

Located inside the Saigon Lounge, guests can relax within the library or make use of the 4 complimentary Internet computer stations.

Mekong Restaurant

The Mekong Restaurant is the AmaDara ship’s Main Dining Room. Stylishly furnished with large panoramic windows, open seating buffet-style Breakfast (English and Continental) is available along with Lunch which offers an additional a la carte menu. Dinner features multiple courses with mostly Western cuisine. Tables are available in a variety of seatings, ranging from 2-8 passengers per table.

The AmaDara's Fitness Area, Spa rooms & Beauty salon are operated by certified staff and a professional beauty therapist. With panoramic floor-ceiling windows, guests can enjoy the Mekong riverside scenery views.


The warm-water pool is surrounded by a large shaded seating and smaller sunbathing areas with loungers and chairs. The pool deck area is served by its own Bar offering complimentary refreshing drinks and snacks.


Disabled Facilities

Handicapped facilities are not available on board or in many places visited on cruises and cruise tours. If you (participant) have a disability and reasonable accommodation may enable you to use the services, please let them know how you believe they can help. Participant must inform them in writing, at or immediately after making the reservation, but in any event as early as possible, of any mobility impairment or other condition, whether physical, emotional or mental, which may require accommodation or use of an assistive device during the travel. A reasonable effort will be made to accommodate special needs, but they are not responsible for denial of service by carriers, hotels, or other independent suppliers. Age Restriction

All guests under the age of 18 are to be in a cabin with an adult, and must remain supervised at all times, and their safety is the responsibility of the accompanying adult(s). Children between the ages of 4 – 10 at the time of embarkation may share a cabin with 2 adults provided the child is able to share the bed with the adults – no additional bed will be provided. Please be aware that balcony cabins of any kind may be unsafe for small children if left unsupervised. Children 4-7 years old are not recommended on any program. AmaWaterways does not provide child-specific programs or child-minding facilities. 

Dress Code

They recommend country club casual for dinner. Guests typically wear dressier attire for the Captain’s Dinner.

Special dietary requests must be provided at time of reservation. An effort will be made to meet the request, but they cannot assure the request can be accommodated.
