The name AmaPura is taken from the former capital of Burma, now Myanmar, Amarapura. The word means 'City of Immortality' in Sanskrit (a philosophical language used in the Indian Cultural Zone). The ship is designed to offer a remarkably comfortable experience along Myanmar’s Ayeyarwady, also known as Irrawaddy, River and uses a mixture of modern and more traditional motifs within its beautiful decor. Its shallow draft (the distance between the water line and the bottom of the hull) allows it to navigate the river during nearly all times of the year.
The AmaPura will provide you with the perfect home away from home for the full extent of your voyage through the largely unexposed country of Myanmar. After an exciting day of exploring the local sights, there is no better way to relax than to return to a peaceful, comfortable ship and be welcomed with open arms, a cool drink and a thoughtfully chilled towel. The personable and resourceful staff will be at your service throughout your entire Myanmar river cruise; helping you to enjoy every drop of the Irrawaddy.
Gratuities to your Cruise Manager and ship crew are not included in the holiday price. While the amount of these gratuities will depend upon your degree of satisfaction for services received. Gratuities on most vessels, but not all, may be charged on credit card as well as cash.
